(1) just read on galesburg.com that Maurices is going to be added to the already abundant list of clothing stores in my beloved hometown. i am disgusted. i mean, really??!!? Maurices??? i am no clothes snob, i LOVE LOVE LOVE target and i have found my fair share of cute dresses at jc penneys and bergners while visiting the 'burg, but MAURICES???? HOLY HELL NO! i didn't even know Maurices was even still around. That's like saying I bought Kieran a sweater at Bachrach. Or Structure. It wouldn't happen. What stings more about this awesome Maurices plan is that Starbucks is gone after, like, 1 year. and Starbucks is still "cool," whereas I don't think I've been to Maurices since it LEFT THE SANDBURG MALL........ hello, Galesburg, Maurices was already there once. It didn't work out. Put in an Express or Abercrombie. Or, forget clothes entirely and try for a Panera? Or even bring back Burger King, for chrissakes! Taco Johns? I know people are missing TJ's!! Hell. Sometimes I think I can run that town better than the current administration. Nonetheless, Galesburg, I'll see you in July. And to the people who administered that dumb survey about "what we'd like to see in Galesburg"....thanks for smashing what little hope we (past, present and future "Galesburgians") had.
(2) I wish Johnny Depp was in town when I worked at Stanleys back in the day and he came in and sat in my section and gave me a $4,000 tip for my awesome service. Instead I got John Cusack who didn't have to pay for anything and didn't bother leaving a tip at all. I think of it as a character-building exercise straight from Jesus, I suppose. Or a lesson in restraint when I really wanted to squirt Visine in his diet Coke the next time he rolled in on his Cannondale (and left it parked INSIDE the bar and god forbid I move it so I can actually work....)
(3) the Camry is back from the shop!! I am no longer driving an Impala. I put my fake police light and blu-blockers away for next time!!! Nothing like impersonating an undercover officer so I can park directly in front of the Starbucks every morning instead of down the block......

Okay, you're the second person I've heard bad things about Cusack from! The movie critic I used to with said, to put it mildly, that Cusack was a "difficult" interview.
And I'm with you on Maurices! I saw that and thought "WTF? Seriously?" If you're going to bring a chain to town, bring a chain that's got some life in it! Sheesh!
