This past weekend my mom and step-dad came up to hang our new curtains. Let me just be clear - we (Kieran and myself) are not invalids. We can do things ourselves and are very capable. However, our windows are on a wall with exposed brick. I don't even know how to start hanging curtains on exposed brick. And my dad had the right type of drill (yet another thing I didn't know - you need a special drill/drill bits). So they came up Friday night and Saturday we (Dad and Kieran, I mean) hung curtains. But not until after Kieran and I traveled on Friday night (read: I love to procrastinate) to a mall (ghetto mall, BTW, wife beaters in all colors of the rainbow) in Bloomingdale (suburb) to snap up their remaining curtain hooks. I cannot believe I live in a city so large and full of resources and yet I still have to travel 25 miles to a JC Penney for curtain hooks. Sigh. We thought we had plenty. Oh no. We were short 5 packs. So on Saturday morning, my mom and I drove to West Dundee, IL (another suburb) to another mall (not quite as ghetto) to buy more hooks. Normally, I wouldn't mind, yes, it's a hassle, but mom and I had a nice drive. But the price of gas is nauseating and I was just computing the actual cost of the hooks in my head, not the JC Penney cost. We still made out on the cheap, since dad's payment was a steak dinner and JC Penney was going to charge us $500 to install the curtains. Plus it was a fun time having them here. And they are pretty. I will post CURTAIN PICTURES tonight. I know, you can't wait.
Saturday night, after the steak dinner, we headed to my friend, Rebecca's party. She's moving to Cali in early July so we had a nice (read: drunk and late night) get-together before she leaves. Another fun time. And I have some pictures. Mostly of me, Rebecca and Sarah. I think we were a little full of ourselves with all the snapshots. :)
Sunday, my parents and I went out for breakfast (Kieran was sleeping) and then, after they left, I proceeded to watch a "Jon and Kate Plus 8" marathon on TLC. Pro-duc-tive! Then we ordered pizza that literally smelled like feet (never again) and tasted horrible (never again) and went to bed early. I didn't eat the 'za, but since I am done with my hunger strike, I did eat cheese fries. So I didn't starve.
I hate comcast. Our home internet only works when no one needs the computer. Once you NEED the computer, well, it doesn't want to work at all.
Shout out: To my sister, Nicole, who is training for her first half-marathon!!!! Yay!!!!
