This past weekend, we celebrated the Klimek family (Chris, Missy and CJ). They are moving to London in June and a bunch of friends met for dinner and drinks for a final night out before they move. I took a few pics, afterall my friend Heather made the trip from Decatur and Becky came out from the burbs (and got a $50 parking ticket as a "welcome back to the city" gift).... I plan on posting them tonight or tomorrow.
Yesterday, the weather was gorgeous and despite my slight hangover, I sat out on the balcony and read my Kindle (The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff; it's for book club and it's about polygamy, very good so far). Which brings me to my list of frivilous things I am thankful for (in no particular order) and why:
1. my Kindle - having so many books at your fingertips in a lightweight little machine amazes me. and you see a book you like, just log on and 9x out of 10, you can get it right then.
2. high speed internet / wifi - the ability to see photos, stream movies & video...i'm old enough to remember dial up.... sloooooooow.... and wifi, which gives me the ability to settle almost any argument, almost anywhere just by googling it.
3. blogs and facebook - to keep up with family and friends...even though fb is really starting to piss me off with this information sharing crap!
4. kayak - if you can dream it, you can go.
5. skype - another way to keep up with family and friends
6. ipod - makes treadmill running bearable
7. iphone apps - makes sitting in court waiting for cases to get called bearable
8. pandora - makes working in my office bearable
9. restaurants that post nutritional information - information is power, but i will usually still get the oreo blizzard
10. netflix - my TV time has increased exponentially....
11. text messaging - sometimes you just don't want to talk... j/k. sometimes you *can't* talk, ie loud bar, court, etc.
12. yelp - K used this to see the reviews of the dentist he ultimately decided to see... we also use it when we're thinking of trying a new place.
13. digital cameras - or, rather, the "delete" button on the digital camera.... that wasn't my good angle/side/smile...
did i miss anything?
