Memphis, y'all

Thanks to the CLE requirement for lawyers, my office paid for me to go to a 3-day seminar in Memphis, TN. Paid trip aside, our office makes us "room" with someone else because they are still a bit stingy. Thankfully, my roommate, Brett, was awesome, and there were a group of other girls from traffic court who came, too. The seminar was decent, but seeing the sights of Memphis with the ladies was much more fun!

Loveleen and me at Silky O'Sullivans on Beale Street....dueling pianos were playing, but they weren't that good.....

Shelley, me and Loveleen at a karaoke bar.

Apparently you can walk around strapped but you cannot take them with you in the bars. I'd say that's a good policy.

The Civil Rights Mueseum - the Lorraine Motel where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot. They kept it the same as it was that day.

Graceland -- I was expecting more.....

Rosie and her big beer. And a very disgustingly sweet drink at Silky O'Sullivans. It's definitely NOT a shark bowl.

The BEST Elvis impersonator we saw. He was dancing in the park.

Beale St. - the party street

Having a drink on Beale Street....

On Friday, after the seminar, there was the Beale Street Music Fest. Brett and I saw Blues Traveler. We also saw Goo Goo Dolls & the B-52s.....and there were tons of other bands and artists.

John Popper - Blues Traveler - my camera zoom is amazing.

The festival (er, I mean, seminar) ladies: Brett, Rosie, me, Shelley, Loveleen

Fatty, fried yumminess: chicken and pickle kabob

me and Brett waiting for the Blues Traveler to start.....

We stayed at the Peabody Hotel, which is famous for it's ducks. They come down at 11 am and swim in the fountain until 5 pm. Each appearance and departure is a regal affair.....
