Vegas, Baby

Last month (because I am so bad about updating the blog....) we went to Vegas with Declan and Karen. Declan is a good friend of Kieran's - he was a groomsman - and Karen is his girlfriend. I love them both, they are so much fun! They flew over from Ireland on Friday night and we left for Vegas Saturday morning. We stayed until Wednesday and Dec and Karen flew from Vegas to NYC (while we thankfully went home to our own bed -- I was very sick upon our return).

When we got there, it was over 100 degrees. But it was a dry windy heat, which I will take any day over the humidity we get here. But I digress. We stayed at the Bellagio. Here are my thoughts on the Bellagio - I can officially say that I've "stayed at the Bellagio," but I can also officially say I will never stay there again. NOT because it wasn't nice. It was. It was so posh. But it was not my style. Nor Kieran's. I still like to think of myself as young and fun and action seeking. The Bellagio is nice, but it's what I would typically think of the kind of hotel where older people with shitloads of cash would want to stay. But their Buffet was SO GOOD. I have stayed at numerous hotels in Vegas and I'd stay at any one of those places again before I'd stay at the Bellagio. Now, when I turn 50 and I am a multi-millionaire and I can afford to play $100 hands of blackjack, well, maybe I'll be back at the Bellagio......

So, Saturday, we hung out, had lunch, and Karen and I went shopping while the boys rested. That night, we saw the Killers. A-MAZ-ING. I have some video (crappy from the camera), but I refuse to post it because you can hear me singing along in the background and I am sooo off tune. :)
Our view from our room....it's not spectacular - we didn't have the fountain/strip view, but it was still pretty cool...

Sunday, we had the champagne brunch at our hotel. Then Kieran and Dec went to New York, New York to pick up our Cirque de Soliel tickets for that night. Dec and Karen went on a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon (I think it was to there...) while I played slots ALL DAY. I suck, I know. I had my swim suit on and everything, but the tinkling noises of the slots were whispering my name..... *sigh*

So Sunday night, Kieran and I saw Zumanity at New York New York. It was free with our hotel and flight booking. How can I describe this show???? Well, huh. It was overtly sexual in nature. And I am not one to shy from that sort of stuff. But when you're in an auditorium with hundreds of other strangers, well, I felt like we were all watching the same porno in the same room. Zumanity is an acrobatic-type show that appeals to ALL GENRES OF .... SEXUAL APPETITES....there were the lesbians in the fishbowl (very awesome acrobatics, BTW), the gay men in the cage, the "missionary position"-type romantic, ballet dancing, guy and gal skit, the lady who's into choking herself (who, I think, had a real orgasm on stage...), emos (not sure if gay or straight), whips, chains, a contortionist, the whole 9 yards.....and BOOBS EVERYWHERE. I am sitting by Kieran and an older guy, a bit of a creeper of a dude....I was wishing I'd worn a pashmina over my cleavage at various points. It was an interesting show to say the least...and I think I will speak for both Kieran and myself when I say I will NEVER SEE THIS SHOW WITH OUR PARENTS!!!!! :)
Monday night, we had our "nice" dinner with Dec and Karen at Delmonicos at the Venetian. It was a very nice steakhouse - I think there's one in NYC. Before dinner, we had drinks at the Venetian and there was this martini, I think it was a called the Moon Lander (pictured below) made with Tang. I LOVE TANG. and this drink was awesome. I'm going to try to recreate it here.....The Venetian was a gorgeous hotel, as well. But we lost at Black Jack there....Damn you, Venetian!

Dec at Delmonicos....I'm sure they were happy to see us leave! :)
The Tang drinks.....Kieran didn't get one.
Brunch on Sunday - Dec and the desserts!
Shitty pic of the Killers show.....

Tuesday night, we saw a comedian at the Tropicana. I'd never been to the Tropicana before and it was an interesting place comparatively speaking. Very old-school Vegas. A lot of wife beaters and camo shorts. And prison tats. Needless to say, we left after the show for another venue......

Very fun trip! I paid for it the following week......
