July Birthdays in Galesburg.....

We went to Galesburg on Saturday after my long run (in the monsoon) for Laura & Dusty's birthday. I have a couple of pics from the sing-song "happy birthday to you," but didn't take any other pictures over the weekend. It was nice to be home and to see everyone (missed little Kaela though, she was with her dad over the weekend), even Nicole and Ben and the kids were home for a Hawkinson family reunion....looking at Nicole's blog, she's got more mileage than me so far this week and month, so I need to step it up! My shoes are still damp (and musty) from Saturday's run, but I am hoping they will be dry for tomorrow.

Last night, before driving back, Dad cooked steak on the grill and then I picked some beans from his garden to take back to Chicago....me gingerly walking amongst the bean plants, picking through only the very visible crops in an attempt to avoid any nesting insects from flying into my face, while simultaneously complaining of the dirt and humidity would have been a funny picture...thankfully, Kieran didn't have the camera in hand while I was attempting to harvest. I have lived in a big city for only 10 years, what happened to my rural self? I have turned into a wuss, for sure! Nonetheless, I am thinking of planting my own urban garden in the spring!

I am hoping to head back to the 'Burg for my birthday this weekend. I'll have to take a lot of pictures to show off the old hometown to the blogosphere!
