My niece, Annelise, attends a Catholic School in Dixon called St. Anne's. They had a fundraising auction last Saturday night. Kieran and I were originally recruited for our mad babysitting skills, but we ended up going to the par-tay. Jason was recruited by the same recruiter (Nicole) to be a waiter for the "preferred table" at the auction. The theme was construction workers (I'm probably getting that wrong) so Jason was going to have a tool belt and get drinks for the members of the preferred table (all the other tables had to get their own drinks). Nicole thought that since Jason was now coming to Dixon, it would be fun for Kieran and I to go to the auction instead of babysit. We thought so too! (but, for the record, I would have also loved to babysit my munchkins)... The food was great, hanging out with Nicole, Ben, Jason and Kieran and meeting some of Ben and Nicole's friends was so fun, and the auction was NUTS! I have never been to an auction. I felt like I was in a casino betting with "chips" and not real money when I held up my "151" card to bid on things like pillowcases with childrens' school pictures on them. It was surreal. I technically won nothing. But I also didn't bid on much. I say "technically" because Jason won Cubs tickets, but I was doing the betting (is it "betting" at an auction?) - we were both sweating - I was looking to him all the way across the room for the signal to hold up my trusty "151" paddle/card as the bid got higher and higher, Kieran is on my right side saying, "I think he wants you to stop bidding" and then the final confusion as to who actually won the tickets (me/Jason - me with "151", Jason with the cash)....and then me freaking out when we did win thinking I overbid what Jason wanted me to! Auctions are quite the adrenaline rush, I tell you! Auction = Action! Keep me away! I will buy rugs, pillowcases, "jeans days" and everything else I possibly can and then we will be very poor.
BUT WE HAD SO MUCH FUN! Thank you, Ben and Nicole, for inviting us!

We got home around 11:30 the next day and I started whipping up some nice goodies for our Super Bowl get-together. After last year (the Bears/subzero weather), Kieran and I decided we didn't want to go to a bar for the Super Bowl this year. So we just invited people to come over in comfy clothes and watch it. I have no pictures from this, unfortunately, because I was too busy stuffing my face and playing commercial critic, but it was a fun time with Ani, Alberto, Arda, John, Sam, Lauren and Kelly.

Thank you for coming...we had so much fun! And also thank you for not putting any pictures on your blog that I would not approve of (hint: big hair)! The theme was Constructing the Future...that is where the construction hats come into play! Love you guys! nic
