Halloween & a Baby Shower

Kieran was surprised with an additional mate who arrived last Thursday - his good friend Mike. So we have Dave and Mike staying with us until today. Of course, none of the Irish lads dressed up for my favorite holiday.... but that didn't deter me. I will post pictures tonight from the Halloween party on Saturday night.

Saturday afternoon I went to Noreen's baby shower. Noreen is married to my cousin Ryan. I hardly ever get to see this side of the family and I really wanted to see everyone who I miss tons. I didn't know if I could do it, so I put off deciding until last week. I know I could have made other arrangements to meet up with them if I couldn't do the shower, but my cousin, Misty, her husband, & kids now live in DC and everyone wants to see them while they are back... I know for me, even just going to Galesburg, I sometimes feel like I don't have time to make plans to see all the family and friends I want to in one trip. It was just easier to go to the shower and I had a nice time. But on the drive home, when I am crying to my mom on the phone, and then at home, curled up in a ball on my bed sobbing to Kieran, I realize that maybe it was too soon. I am so happy for Noreen & Ryan and I was so happy to see everyone...and the shower was amazing (diaper "cake" that Misty made was so cute! & the food was delish) -- but I felt really, really sad for myself. Holding my sh** together at a baby shower when it's just been less than one month since we buried Daniel was hard work. Needless to say, I coped later on that night in full Halloween gear and mucho gin. However, I was so happy to see the Morgans!! And we hope to see them over Christmas time -- with the new Baby Morgan making an appearance!!
