Back in the 'burg....

We made it safe and sound last night. I think last night was the final night I will spend at the house on Prairie Street. Mom asked if I was sad. I said I didn't know if "sad" was the right feeling I had. I have so many memories of the people of Prairie Street - some have moved on (Luke, the Morgans, Caroline, David, Mike, Phyllis & Joan...just to name a few...) and some have stayed (Barb, Sue & Dan, Art & Charlotte). We played "guns" when it was still ok to do that and we stayed out until dark because it was still safe. There were block parties. The house itself has gone through many transformations..... I guess I'm kind of sad but I think that has more to do with the underlying reasons my mom is moving and not so much the house/neighborhood itself.

Home is truly where the heart is.

But on the flip side, mom is moving to an old stomping ground for me anyway - she bought a house that is directly behind the one my dad & Bonnie lived in while we were growing up - our "formative" years - awkward Jr. High, High School and college for Nicole and me. My friend, Emily, lives there now (how crazy, and I *still* haven't seen the transformation, Em!) and I remember sneaking out of that house with Nicole and flashlight-signaling Keri (whose parents live across the street from mom's new house - they still live there, I think?), which I am convinced is how we got caught. My classmate Ryan LaDage lived in the house mom bought and I remember all of the kids playing on the trampoline next door to the LaDages.
So I have fun memories in that neighborhood too. And I am ready to have more fun memories with mom as she starts her new journey in her new house! While I know mom will keep in touch with her Prairie Street neighbors, look out Academy Street (& Em) - she makes some mean chocolate chip cookies! And she's always ready to chit chat over wine (or coffee) on the porch.

Heading to the Landmark for lunch then to my grandma's house for Noreen's shower! Then I think I need some brewskis tonight to make up for my alcohol-free halloween...... :)

Sara,
I was told we were caught because My Aunt Peg told on us.
She used to work with Bonnie....not sure how it all went down,
I think I must have told her about it...we used to be close!!!

Too funny!!!
