Last Friday, Kieran and I drove to Galesburg for the weekend. I took absolutely ZERO pictures, unfortunately, because I am a slacker. I had my camera, just forgot to get it out all weekend. Nicole, Ben and the kids were also back from South Carolina, so that was fun to see them, too!
Saturday morning, my step-dad and I ran a 4-mile race at Carl Sandburg College. I felt like Sly in Rocky IV, but without all the training... I was back, BABY! My run was ok - I finished with 10:00 min/miles and I beat dad. I am having a little soreness in my foot, even today, but I think I am overall ok. Going to see foot doctor on Saturday again, so I am sure she'll tell me if I screwed the pooch last weekend.
Saturday afternoon was Laura's bridal shower. Fun times. Saturday night, my dad and Bonnie took me, Kieran and Jason out for dinner for my birthday. Sunday was pizza, cake and brownies in celebration of my almost 22 years (haha!) on this earth. Kieran and I got back into Chicago just in time to watch some DVR'd crap and head to bed.
Monday, Kieran gave me my birthday present (I know what you're probably thinking, all this birthday acknowledgment early...what am I going to get on my actual birthday? probably nothin'....) and I LOVE IT!!!! It's a Kindle 2 and it is so much fun. You can download books, daily newspapers (we are now reading the Irish Times on a daily basis, to keep up with Kieran's homeland), magazines, it's just so much fun. And it's very lightweight, thin, and can just slip into my "suitcase" of a purse for reading when I am on the train, a plane or just when I want to ignore others. Thanks, baby!
