Shenanigans South of Interstate 80

Saturday after my short/long run (12 miles is considered short at this point), Kieran, Helmut, Sam and I piled in the car and headed down to Decatur for Heather and Chad's Labor Day weekend cookout. Typically, while in Decatur, Helmut and I like to go on a "mullet safari," however this year, the mullet sightings were slim to none. Rumor has it, the mullet is being elusive after being called out in the local Decatur paper. We did see a nice one at the Rantoul McDonalds, but I let it get away in an attempt to capture the shot below:
Oh yes, that is a house on concrete blocks. Being not only from a small town, but also having an affinity for all things white trash, I have seen trucks and cars jacked up on blocks in either front yards or driveways. For extended periods of time, too, we're not talking "hey let's change the oil and jack the car up on these here blocks, get 'r done, and put it back down." Sometimes I think people just forget or they are no longer friends with the people who helped them jack up the ride in the first place. HOWEVER, I have never seen a house on blocks. Until Saturday. In Rantoul.
Me and Helmut - look how we match, kinda. We didn't plan that.
My honey and me.
Heather and me.
Heather's son, Hudson, and me. Notice how Hudson is well over an arm's length away from me. I think he's a little apprehensive....I told him I like younger guys, but (a) he's too young and (b) I am happily married. He still decided to be safe rather than sorry.
Kieran and Helmut. You can't see them, but there were a zillion mosquitoes (my legs look like infectious pox aftermath) and a few slugs after the sun went down. Ick.
Sam, Michelle, Kieran, me, Chad, Heather and Helmut. At the bar.
My D-town ladies.
Helmut and me, clearly we need more drinks, no?
Heather and her sister, Stacy, and me.
After we got back to Heather and Chad's, we ate leftover spinach dip and prank called infomercials. Yes, we are in jr. high. We called the Iron Gym and we called a couple of CD ads - one for 80's rock ballads (not as fun, because before you could get a live person, they required a credit card and we weren't THAT drunk) and one for 60's chart toppers (same situation requiring a credit card). Iron Gym humored us for awhile then hung up. After that, Chad and I just kept making fun of the guy on the 60s infomercial because he looked like an older, fatter Andrew Dice Clay (I know, older and fatter would seem impossible, but it was)....so until about 4 am, we were just screaming out "Dice" lines at the TV. I guess you had to be there. And thankfully, Hudson was sleeping at his grandparents. It's nights like that when I think, wow, I am actually contemplating being a parent someday and I am so, so immature about some stuff...... :) Good thing I have my younger hubby to keep me in line. :)
