Today was the Wondergirl 5k. It's a 5k put on by Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is an organization for which I volunteer twice a week. We coach girls for a 5k while incorporating positive messages of self-respect and healthy living. It's amazing! This spring, I coached at Jenner School. The girls are between 3rd and 5th grade and it's a school located near Cabrini Green.

My mom also joined me for the race -- she walked with Karin, a 5th grader at Jenner. It was a very hot and humid day today. Karin and Mom before the race.

The Jenner Girls!! I coached with Lynn Rogers and Jenni Smith. We also had volunteers come and be "running buddies" with the girls -- To Keep their Spirits up in the heat!!

I was a running buddy to Gervetta and Shernita. They ran for most of the race, incorporating a few walk breaks and water station breaks. They did awesome!!

Coach Lynn, some of the Jenner girls striking a pose pre-race, and Coach Jenni. Don't they look awesome in our princess crowns??

CROSSING THE FINISH LINE!!! We made it!!!

Tony the Tiger made an appearance for a few photo ops after the race!

Mom and some Jenner girls post-race. They are tired, but they are still sassy! And they all received a medal at the finish line! It was the first 5k race for many of the girls. They were so proud of themselves.

Post-race -- hot, tired, hungry but very proud of our accomplishments!
